Emerging UK trend: assaulting pedestrians for high-end jackets

Date:

In the United Kingdom, it is no longer jewelry, money or electronic items that are coveted by thieves, but expensive jackets, reports the Daily Mail. A hunt for luxury which could even be a new trend in England, according to a criminologist.

Canada Gosse jackets, whose price can exceed 2,000 euros, are particularly popular. The brand’s most expensive jackets, worth 1,700 pounds, or 1,965 euros, are now circulating within criminal networks. A gain that pushes many people to burglarize cars as well as neighborhood homes, attack passers-by in the street or attack people with knives.

Shocking images shared on the networks last Sunday show two hooded criminals attacking a man in broad daylight at the British train station in Kent. The goal? Steal his jacket. Another video went viral in early December. A man ended up with a scarred face after being, according to his own words, attacked by criminals who were trying to steal his jacket. “Don’t die for a Canada Goose,” he said.

A London public transport official also said that young people wearing Canada Goose or North Face jackets were increasingly being targeted by thieves.
