Chelsea’s Milan Offer: Two Players Exchanged For Leao

Date:

The Athletic reports it: the London club valued the Portuguese at 100 million euros and would have tried to buy him by proposing two pawns to the Rossoneri.

After signing the contract extension with Milan, here are some background stories, dating back to this summer, on the negotiation between Chelsea and the Rossoneri to bring Rafael Leao to London. The Blues had valued the Portuguese at 100 million euros (87 million pounds), and to secure it they would have tried to include two of their players in the deal: they were Pulisic and Ziyech. But Milan did not appear to be interested in the exchange. In January, the Londoners bought Mudrik from Shakhtar Donetsk, who arrived at Stamford Bridge for the same amount that the club wanted to pay to secure Leao’s services. This background is reported by the English newspaper The Athletic.

Chelsea Still Interested in Leao?

After the winter transfer window closed, the Chelsea managers asked for an update on the state of the negotiations between Leao and Milan for the extension of the contract. The London club will now have to look elsewhere, unless they are willing to satisfy the new €175m clause in the Portuguese international’s new five-year contract.
