Deidre Brown, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom’s delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), has congratulated Armenia and Azerbaijan on completing negotiations for a peace agreement and urged both parties to sign it as soon as possible.
In an official statement published on the UK government’s website, Brown emphasized that the finalization of this agreement is a historic moment and a crucial step toward ensuring long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus. She highlighted that signing the agreement would not only benefit Armenia and Azerbaijan but also promote regional trade and prosperity.

The statement also called on both nations to refrain from rhetoric that could undermine peace efforts, warning that a return to conflict would be a major setback for the region. The UK, along with its international partners, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts toward a stable and lasting peace.
On March 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced they had agreed on a draft peace agreement. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan suggested consulting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to determine the time and location for signing the deal. However, Azerbaijan has set preconditions before proceeding.
One of Azerbaijan’s demands is that Armenia amend its constitution, arguing that it contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Additionally, Azerbaijan insists on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. Meanwhile, tensions remain high, with both sides accusing each other of border attacks. Armenia has reported Azerbaijani shelling targeting villages in Syunik, in southern Armenia.
