Raising awareness among citizens, and not only farmers, about the Common Agricultural Policy, its benefits and the importance of supporting the primary sector and rural development within the EU.
Also addressing misperceptions and misinformation about agricultural Europe, through concrete data. These are some of the objectives of ‘CapCom 24-25’, the 12-month media campaign to spread news and information about the new CAP throughout the country.
The community project is launched for Italy at IuFost 2024, in Rimini, an international event organized by the Union of Food Sciences and Technologies, for the first time in our country. Among the other objectives of ‘CapCom’ also highlight how the new CAP will be an important tool to manage the transition towards sustainable food production systems, strengthen Europe’s efforts towards farmers to contribute to the EU’s climate challenges to protect the environment or the achievement of the objectives set in the European Green Deal also in a version mitigated by the tractor protests in Brussels and the response of President von der Leyen.
Within the CAP, one of the most significant innovations concerns the strengthening of advisory services; this new initiative is aimed at providing technical and strategic support to farmers, helping them to implement more sustainable and innovative agricultural practices. Advisory is a fundamental pillar for improving the competitiveness of the sector, offering customized solutions ranging from the management of natural resources to the digitalization of farms. Advisory that is not limited to providing information, but aims to guide farmers in the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, with the aim of improving productivity and reducing environmental impact. Thanks to this innovation, farmers can access advanced business management tools and benefit from customized development plans. Another focal point is Measure (ex) 16 of the CAP, one of the tools provided by the Rural Development Programme (RDP), aimed at promoting cooperation between different actors in the agricultural, forestry and agri-food sectors. The objective is to encourage the creation of partnerships, networks and other forms of collaboration between farmers, research institutions, businesses, associations and other organisations. This measure has undergone significant changes to encourage collaboration and innovation, aiming at projects that improve the sustainability and resilience of the sector.
