Leading logistics operator, Maritime Group Limited (Maritime), has been acquired by Switzerland-based global logistics and supply chain provider, MEDLOG SA (MEDLOG).
The sale was completed on 02/09/2024. The deal marks a significant milestone for both Maritime and its development plans.
Maritime Transport reported in a statement.
Over the past 23 years, from small beginnings, through a highly flexible and innovative approach, Maritime has become one of the country’s leading logistics providers with 3,000 employees and a state-of-the-art network of 41 sites across the UK. Today, it provides complete supply chain coverage through a range of integrated logistics services for road and rail freight, including: container transport and warehousing, national distribution, freight management and truck sales.
John Williams, Executive Chairman of Maritime Group commented: “We are very pleased to have secured the long-term future of the business as part of an independent global logistics organisation that can provide the ongoing investment to help us with our exciting plans to develop the Company for all our stakeholders. At MEDLOG, we share a common heritage, culture, values and understanding and we look forward to their support in realising the full potential of Maritime and our commitment to our valued employees, customers and suppliers.” “We will continue to develop practical, technology and infrastructure-led supply chain solutions and set a high bar for service performance in the UK with new battery electric trucks on order and our rail terminals operating on an open access basis for existing and new customers,” he concluded.
Maritime’s current management team, led by John Williams, will remain with the company and continue to run the business seamlessly, with the new investment support of MEDLOG, under the ‘Maritime’ brand.
MEDLOG Chairman Giuseppe Prudente explained why this investment heralds an important milestone: “We are delighted to expand our logistics presence in the UK. MEDLOG specialises in intermodal transport and provides solutions in over 80 countries. The wealth of knowledge in the maritime sector, combined with MEDLOG’s investment and experience, will fuel continued innovation in the UK’s logistics infrastructure for the future, in a way that is aligned with our values and respect for the environment.”
