This is an agreement that puts an end to a political and judicial process that began fourteen years ago. On the night of June 24 to 25, the official WikiLeaks account announced the release of Julian Assange, its founder. The person concerned, who had been detained in the United Kingdom since 2019, was able to leave the country on a plane.
“Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh high-security prison on the morning of June 24, after spending 1,901 days there. The High Court in London granted him bail and he was released in the afternoon at Stansted Airport, where he boarded a plane and left the United Kingdom,” the organization wrote on X (ex-Twitter).
On this occasion, a short thirteen-second video was posted online by WikiLeaks. It shows a convoy apparently heading towards the airport from which Julian Assange, now 52, left. The man in question is visible on the screen. He is seen holding documents and then boarding a plane.
