Today, UK Defense Minister Grant Shapps will announce a new support package for Ukraine worth more than £100 million and the signing of new air defense contracts.
According to the British Ministry of Defense website, the package will help the Ukrainian armed forces clear minefields, maintain their vehicles and strengthen defensive fortifications to protect critical national infrastructure.
“During my recent visit to Kyiv, I assured President Zelensky that the UK’s support for Ukraine and its most urgent needs was unwavering. Today I am proud to announce that the UK, alongside its allies, is delivering on its promise by signing new contracts to supply Ukraine with vital air defense systems,” the Minister said.
The UK and Denmark launched the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) in 2022, and the UK is working closely with Ukraine to acquire goods that meet the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces. Since then, five more countries have contributed to the IFU, demonstrating allied support for Ukraine.
As a reminder, Great Britain will supply Ukraine with tens of thousands of artillery shells by the end of the year.
