Initially, the redemption was to be finalized before July 18, 2023, which is today’s date. But with the latest twists and in particular the resumption of negotiations with the British CMA, everything suggests that the deal should finally be concluded a little later.
The Competition Appeal Tribunal has indeed agreed, under certain conditions, to suspend Microsoft’s appeal against the CMA’s decision to block the takeover in order to be able to negotiate a new agreement on cloud gaming.
According to Bloomberg, the CMA has also moved the date of its final order to August 29, 2023, suggesting Microsoft may be granted a temporary extension to miss the July 18 deadline.
Microsoft would therefore seek to finalize the takeover by finding an agreement on all territories, and not to complete the merger before finding a solution in the United Kingdom as suggested last week.
We should have an official communication on the subject in the next few hours.
