Queen Camilla’s 76th: Messages & Cannon Fire

Date:

This Monday, July 17, Camilla blew out her 76 candles. Big news this year: it’s her very first birthday as Queen of the United Kingdom. For the occasion, the country’s military units have decided to honor their sovereign.

As relayed by our colleagues from “Hello” magazine, 76 cannon shots were fired from the Tower of London today: 41 from Royal Horse Artillery (RHA) and 62 from the Honorable Artillery Company. Other shots were given from Edinburgh, York, Hillsborough and Cardiff.

A military band also performed that day. At 11 a.m., the band of Irish guards had the opportunity to play “Happy Birthday” during the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. An hour later, the Coldstream Guards band sang a tune as they prepared for the gunfire in Green Park.

In addition to this musical tribute, the English royal family’s Twitter account posted a photo of the sovereign, accompanied by the message “We wish a happy birthday to Her Majesty the Queen”. On her Instagram account, three shots of Camilla were shared in story.

For their part, the Prince and Princess of Wales obviously did not fail to mark the occasion. “Happy birthday to Her Majesty the Queen”, they wrote on their Instagram and Twitter account.
